Approximately 1-2% of the population experiences a problem with excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis. Hands, face, underarms, feet and groin area can all be affected by this condition.

While some types of secondary hyperhidrosis may be caused by underlying factors such as hyperthyroidism, menopause, obesity or psychiatric disorders, the cause of primary hyperhidrosis is still unknown. We do know however, that about 25-30% of those suffering have a family member with the same condition.

Because hyperhidrosis patients respond differently to different treatments, the knowledgeable staff at Premier is committed to working closely with each patient to determine as quickly and painlessly as possible the treatment that will combat and control his or her hyperhidrosis.

You don’t have to suffer from hyperhidrosis. Contact Premier today to start working towards the treatment that best fits your needs.

Hyperhidrosis FAQ

What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterized by excessive and uncontrollable sweating. It can be localized in the feet, hands, underarms, face or elsewhere, or may be generalized, affecting the entire body.

What causes hyperhidrosis?
The exact cause of primary hyperhidrosis is not known. Secondary hyperhidrosis indicates that the condition is caused by another factor such as obesity, certain medications or menopause.

What treatments are used to control hyperhidrosis?
Depending on the severity and location of the patient’s condition, hyperhidrosis treatments range from special antiperspirants and topical solutions to oral medications and more dramatic measures such as surgery. Recently, Botox® injections have shown to have a significant impact on reducing excessive sweating.

It’s important that patients receive a complete medical assessment of their condition in order to determine the safest and most effective form of treatment.
